Discipleship/Children’s Ministry Pastor or Director Job Description

St. Paul Hmong Alliance Church is seeking a full-time (40 hour per week) Discipleship/Children Ministry Pastor or Director who has a heart for discipling and a passion to help children toward a stronger relationship with Jesus. The Discipleship/Children Ministry Pastor or Director will serve the church by equipping God’s people from individual, to families, and children to do his work, empowering members to be as active as possible in the works of the church according to the mission and vision of SPHAC. The position will also develop and work together with the children’s ministry leadership team to develop effective discipleship that connect children and families to Jesus.

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develop a clear and effective strategy to help members easily and efficiently take the next step in their relationship with God and assimilate into our church community.

  • Evaluate and recommend curriculum for ministries in Children’s Ministry, Small group, youth, senior adults, etc.

  • Continually build qualified leaders by teaching classes so that more responsibilities are shared by capable people and strong relationships of spiritual growth are fostered.

  • Oversees all ministries related to children in the church from birth to 5th grade.

  • Develop and oversee an effective Sunday School curriculum that includes activities and Gospel-centered teaching.

  • Develop weekly Sunday school and Midweek (Wednesday) lessons.

  • Develop and oversee children’s ministry events and seasonal programs such as Vacation Bible School.

  • Strong administrative skills.

  • Oversee weekday children’s programming.

  • Assist with creative ways to engage the church in children’s ministry using various methods of communication.

  • Work under the supervision of the Lead Pastor.

  • Work with the church staff to ensure effective communication of program objectives.

  • Attend weekly staff meetings.

  • Self-directed work ethics but also a strong team player.

  • Pastoral candidates include additional duties as directed by Lead Pastor

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, pastoral or related field.

  • Two (2) years of ministry serving experience.

  • One (1) year of experience working directly with children.

  • Strong execution focuses and attention to detail.

  • Experience working with children and families.

  • Ability to foresee and address needs for the children’s programs.

  • Strong work ethic, proactive and able to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Highly developed communication skills; articulate verbally and in writing.

  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications.

  • Requires ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Fluent in both Hmong and English

  • Must pass a background check.

Compensation Package

Starting Pay: $43,000/annually

Health insurance: Reimbursement available for FT staff
